Inside, confidential and off the recordTatarstan pushing ahead
Tatarstan. An independent territory of the Russia Federation is trying to break in to the Latin American market, making the most of its natural resources. We talked yesterday with some of its officials at the Latin American Petroleum Show, held this week at the Venezuelan oil city of Maracaibo and it surprises us, the push they have to get inside this new market. Tatarstan is one of the most economically developed Russian regions. Fuel and petrochemical industries are their main products,the republic's profile (production of crude oil, synthetic rubber, tyres, polyethylene and a wide range of petroleum products), also there are large engineering enterprises that produce helicopters, aircrafts and engines for them, heavy trucks and small cars, compressors and oil-gas pumping equipment; hi-tech electric and radio devices.
